Mid week excursion Tuesday 21st May ’24 at Queensland Museum – Insect Agency Exhibition

DETAILS: Following the March meeting presentation by  entomologist Geoff Thompson, he has agreed to lead a group of members through the current Queensland Museum exhibition, INSECT AGENCY.  

Geoff Thompson is one of Australia’s few specialist insect illustrators whose works have appeared in many books, journals, posters and displays, winning him prizes in several national competitions.  

Because of advances in equipment and the development of new techniques – Geoff now uses photography to record the morphology of insects. He uses a procedure involving multiple photographs in a process called Focus-stacked Micro Photography.  Examples of this process are now on display in the exhibition and he will talk us through some examples.

We will meet at the nearby museum café, where we can later have lunch.

MEET AT: 11 am, Museum Cafe, Level 2, Kurilpa, South Brisbane.
