Mid Week Excursion – Gibraltar Range National Park

Registration: If possible, please register via the website (registration form below). The website is set up to automatically send an email to the Excursion Secretary, and the person registering will also receive an email.  Alternatively, you can register by email to excursion@qnc.org.au with Gibraltar in the subject line. Please include the name and contact details of all attendees including mobile phone and email address. The name and contact number for an emergency contact is also requested.

Details: We will be camping in the group camping area at Mulligan’s Hut campground. Please do not book independently. QNC has already booked and paid for the group site, suitable for up to 40 people, so when the time comes to pay you will be paying QNC directly. The only exception would be if you are bringing a caravan or camper and wish to camp on your own individual site, in which case feel free to book your own site via the website.

Costs:

Total National Park camping cost for the 5 nights is $30.75 or $6.15 per person per night – payable to QNC.

QNC costs are $2 per night – payable to QNC

You must also arrange a Park Entry Pass. Park Entry fees are $8 per vehicle per day, or you can purchase an annual pass. The best value option would be a Single Park Pass at $22.  Click here: Gibraltar Range National Park

Amenities: large group camping site which is booked exclusively for QNC. The camp is close to toilets and cold showers (you could consider bringing a shower bag for warm water as there are hooks in the shower cubicles). There is a large shelter shed with a gas BBQ to assist with cooking. There is a large fire pit which will probably be well used in September.

Activities: Gibraltar Range NP is listed on the World Heritage register for rainforest plants. In addition, there are also granite outcrops, mountain streams and magnificent Eucalypt forests (something for everyone!) Many wonderful walks, short, medium and longer head off from the camping ground. On one day of the excursion, we may leave camp to drive/explore another section of Gibraltar Range National Park.

What to Bring: Camping gear, food, drinking water, suitable clothes and footwear, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, camera, walking pole, raincoat, field guides. Also bring something warm to wear for evenings.

Directions: You need to allow 5+ hours. There are 2 options; both the inland route via Warwick/Tenterfield and the coastal route via Tweed Heads/Grafton are about 400km distance.

Note: Mid week excursions are for club members only.  If you would like to join us for this excursion you can  sign up online here.
