This Guide illustrates some of the variety of fungi that are not typical ‘mushroom’ shapes. Together with Mushrooms of the Sunshine Coast it will help increase your knowledge of our local fungi. All illustrated fungi have been photographed in this bioregion, though many are more widespread.

Fungi obtain nutrients in various ways (termed trophic roles) – mates, recyclers and pathogens. Some fungi change roles depending on different circumstances.
