Tonight we note just that Mr Barry Jancke is a well-known Club member with very wide natural history interests. These interests have been expressed through teaching, organizational activity and much publication of research and observation. He has been active not only in QNC but also in the Fassifern and Toowoomba Field Naturalists; Birds Queensland and Birds Australia; and the Society for Growing Australian Plants. Those members who have been on excursions he has organized know of his deep interest and commitment to the Boonah-Kalbar area, its human and landscape history as well as its nature today. On the other hand he has also led QNC excursions far afield; Solomon Islands and Tasmania.
I take pleasure in presenting the Queensland Natural History Award for 2009 to Mr Barry Jahnke.
